‘Creating An Understanding’ is the essence of the 2004 Adelaide Boat Show.

Did you know that the Adelaide Boat Show is arguably the fastest growing boat show in the fastest developing boating State in Australia? This means that if you haven’t visited the Boat Show in the past two years, then you will be astounded at the new look, new feel and the high quality of exhibits.

The 2004 Show has entered a new era of excitement and, with a whole new range of interpretive features on the ‘how’ of boating, together with the long awaited launch of the guide to boating South Australia for the ‘where’ of boating, and there is more than plenty for visitors to explore and enjoy.

The Boating Industry Association of SA recognises that we have become an information rich society with easy access to scores of information via the internet and other information services.  Unfortunately, so often that information is not being converted to an understanding.

We also know that we have to take a responsible approach to sustaining our boating environment so that future generations can enjoy the pleasures of reeling in wild fish, of cruising to clean secluded destinations, of diving on richly populated dive sites and off the sheer magic of watching dolphins frollick in the bow-waters.

But, we aim to make it all fun. The 2004 Boat Show is geared to create a real understanding of boating through the provision of specialised interpretive and interactive features set throughout the Show, and to convert information into practical knowledge via a ‘hands on’ approach that will serve to instil confidence and to create a yearning in boaties to venture out to enjoy the freedom of boating… to broaden their horizons.

South Australian recreational boating is experiencing rapid growth with an increasingly discerning boating market in areas such as marinas and boating facilities, the size and sophistication of craft, and a higher demand for services and charter.

Many South Australians are investing in bigger more highly equipped craft in which to explore new horizons and to expand their boating experiences. To assist with this, the Adelaide Boat Show will be the launching pad for a new comprehensive guide to boating all South Australian waters from coastline to the River Murray. The guide has been three years in the making and contains everything a boatie needs to know on destinations, trails, services and facilities.

Over the past five years the Adelaide Boat Show has grown rapidly in terms of sophistication and presentation with a broad variety of brands and designs directly reflecting the development of recreational boating in a stunning display of boats, motors, accessories, services, and tourism opportunities, and add to this some exciting new features.

A big new fishing feature sponsored by Jarvis Walker will host the Pro Penn Fishing Team of six fishing experts visiting from all around Australia to offer information, tips and demonstrations of the latest and very best in fishing gear.  You can even ‘put yourself in the picture’ on a mock up magazine front cover with you the star holding a prize winning catch that will keep your friends guessing!

A new ‘Sustainable Fishing’ feature will compliment the fishing action, with an interpretive display of threatened species from the River Murray, Coorong and our coastlines and a fun ‘make a bag’ environmental activity for kids.

The ever-popular Spot On Kiddies Fishing Pond operated by Fish Care volunteers, will offer a range of give-aways for kids that ‘catch the right ones’.

In addition to this the Pains Wessex Boating Safety Interpretive Centre will host a variety of organizations concerned with navigation, communication, boating safety and rescue. You can even learn how to use the new Bureau of Meteorology boaties direct weather-cam website and how to use navigation and marine communication equipment effectively. You can even sit for your boat licence in regular sessions.

For the action lovers, there’s a big range of amazing ski and wakeboard boats and equipment, diving courses and gear, canoes and kayaks, jetskis, wind surfers, and an exciting interactive sail display.

For those interested in exploring a career in the marine industry, a comprehensive Careers in Marine Expo is a major feature of the 2004 Boat Show with interpretive displays that will not only allow you to test drive of a range of career options, but will also show boaties the inside story on their boats and accessories.

We at BIASA know that the best way for boaties to get the most enjoyment out of boating is to develop confidence in their ability to understand their vessel and its environment. So at the 2004 Boat Show we aim to create an understanding…
